The Adult & Continuing Education Department of our school held the 2015 International Conference on Active Aging : Training and Development for 50+

Active Aging learning has been launched since 2008, and conducted mainly by our department and the Elderly Education Center. There are 313 senior citizens learning centers in Taiwan, which provide those people chances to continue learning and nurture helpers, including heads of the centers, volunteers, planners and counselors.    

To provide senior citizens education and training, our department invited local and overseas scholars to join our “2015 International Conference on Active Aging: Training and Development for 50+”. It aims at employment of senior citizens and teaching strategies for those elderly, with seminars, essays and theses. Through discussions and sharing, it brainstorms more advices for our countries. There were 420 participants in total.     

This conference has four speeches: 1. Dolly Chu, the president of the California Ceramics Artists, shared the strengths of elderly women relaunching their careers; 2. Helen Lim, head of the first social enterprise in Singapore, shared her thoughts about how to adjust mindset and relearning; 3. How Feng-min, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Labor, discussed Taiwan’s policies on senior citizens  manpower; 4. Hu meng-jing, our professors, shared how to empower senior citizens to contribute their service.

Besides, there are 4 theses, 12 oral presentations of practice papers and 14 poster aiming at ‘Usage of Manpower of Senior Citizens’, ‘Courses and Teaching Strategies of Elderly Learning’ and ‘Discussion on Education Strategies on Elderly in Rural Areas’.
