The department of the Adult and Continuing Education and the Advanced Gerontological Expertise Institute co-organized “2021 International Conference on Development and Trends of Adult and Elder Education in a Changing World” between the 18th and 19th of November 2021, in view of that our country confronts the test of becoming a super-aged society amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
This conference aimed to discuss concrete solutions to adapt the elder education in the country and future strategies. There were important issues including new lessons of learning for the elderly in the pandemic, learning for the elderly and digital technology, diverse models of learning for the elderly, creative programs, and cross-fields integration of education for the elderly, cross-generation interaction and learning, development and usage of manpower for the elderly, and the nurture of education for the elderly professionals.
This international conference was held online, inviting professionals of related fields from five countries, including Prof. Han Jong-Lan of South Korea’s Hanseo University, the co-establisher of Singapore’s Fe Yue Community Service Leng Chin Fai, Tokyo University’s Prof. Atsushi Makino, Peking University’s Prof. Chen Gong and our professor Hu Meng-Ching.
The satisfaction survey conducted after the conference, including registration, the arrangement of the schedule, hardware and software devices, quality of the content and assists of staff, scored 4.802 on average (5 points scale, 258 valid reply). It shows that the techniques of online conferences held by out department in the pandemic have gradually met the public’s needs.
