Undergraduate Program Regulations

1. Academic Regulations for Students of the 114th Academic Year

1. Students of this department must complete a minimum of 129 credits for graduation, which include:

  • (1) General Education: 28 credits

  • (2) Professional Compulsory: 52 credits

  • (3) Professional Elective: 29 credits

  • (4) Free Elective: 20 credits

Other General Education Courses:

Students must select at least 1 course from the "Information Technology Capability Course" and Bo-Ya (Liberal Arts) General Education Dimensions 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. The remaining credits may be fulfilled by taking Comprehensive Chinese, Information Technology courses, Basic Introductory courses, or courses from any Bo-Ya General Education dimension.

★ If students take "Basic Introductory Courses" offered by this department, or courses listed in the "Exclusion List for General Education Courses," they will not be counted towards the General Education credit requirement.

  • ◎ Physical Education (PE) for Year 1 and Year 2 is compulsory (0 credits); one course per semester for the first and second years.

(III) Professional Elective (Minimum: 29 Credits)

Any elective course offered by this department (principally 3 credits per course) may be counted as a Professional Elective credit.

  • (Year 1, Spring): Community College Management and Administration, Healthy Aging and Health Promotion

  • (Year 2, Fall): Community Empowerment and Cultural Innovation, Curriculum Development and Design for Aging Literacy, Guided Reading of English Masterpieces in Adult Education (2 credits), Adult Education Copywriting Design and Expression (2 credits)

  • (Year 2, Spring): Adult Education Profession Management, New Immigrant Literacy Education, Active Aging Career Planning, Dementia Prevention Education, Interpersonal Communication for Adult Education Program Coordinators (2 credits)

  • (Year 3, Fall): Communication Theories and Oral Broadcasting, Adult Career Orientation (2 credits), Brain Science and Adult Game-based Learning Material Design, Performance Management, Adult Education Marketing

  • (Year 3, Spring): Innovation in International Senior Services, Adult Educational Measurement and Evaluation, Age-friendly and Aging Education, Social Enterprise of Non-Profit Organizations, Comparative Management of Senior Education Institutions, Organizational Learning and Development, Blended Curriculum Design and Guidance

  • (Year 4, Fall): Social Design Practice, Diverse Intervention Programs for Caregivers, Learning Strategy and Practice, Organizational Communication and Leadership

  • (Year 4, Spring): Active Aging Industry Development

(IV) Free Elective (Total: 20 Credits)

  1. Credits exceeding the Professional Elective requirement earned by students of this department may be counted as Free Elective credits.

  2. Credits from waived or abandoned Professional Compulsory courses, as well as credits earned from other academic programs within the university, may be counted as Free Elective credits.

  3. Credits earned from Military Training (Nursing) and Physical Education (PE) elective courses may be counted as Free Elective credits, up to a maximum of 2 credits for each category.

  4. Excess General Education credits may be counted as Free Elective credits and graduation credits, up to a maximum of 6 credits.

  5. Credits from advanced language courses (Intermediate, Advanced) offered by the Language Center may be counted as Free Elective credits.

Remarks:

  1. Article 14 of University Academic Regulations: Undergraduate students must take a maximum of 25 credits per semester from their first to fourth year. The minimum requirement is 16 credits per semester from the first to the third year, and 9 credits per semester for the fourth year.

  2. Article 15 of University Academic Regulations: Undergraduate students selecting courses at other universities/colleges must obtain approval from both this university and the host university. Inter-university course selection for undergraduate students is limited to a maximum of 6 credits per semester.

  3. General Education courses with identical properties cannot be retaken for credit.

  4. Students applying for a double major or minor must prioritize the completion of compulsory and elective courses required by their major department.

  5. In principle, applications for credit waivers for Free Elective courses cannot exceed 1/3 of the department's required Free Elective credits.

  6. Starting from the second semester of the junior year, students may elect to take Master's level courses offered by the department. Students must select one of two options: "Include in Free Electives and Graduation Credits" OR "Reserve for credit waiver application upon admission to the Master's program".

  7. Elective courses may be taken across different grade levels/years.

★ This department participates in several credit programs, including the "Justice and Senior Social Work Undergraduate Credit Program," "Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Program," "Human Resources and Organizational Psychology Credit Program," "Forward-looking Aging Interdisciplinary Innovation Credit Program," "Elderly Human Rights Clinic Interdisciplinary Credit Program," and "Youth-Silver Co-creation Interdisciplinary Credit Program." For any subjects stipulated within these programs, students will be issued a credit program certificate by the university upon review and approval.

★ The Social Practice Course is a university-level compulsory course. Undergraduate students must pass the review of the Social Practice Course Committee and complete 6 to 10 hours of practical field execution.
