National Chung Cheng University Adult and Continuing Education Department took place the 2019 Aging Learning International Conference, between 7th and 8th November in 2019, in order to have deep cooperation between Taiwan and other countries in the topics of education and social issues for the elderly, and also to extend the results of the conference in 2018. During the two days, the department invited experts and scholars in related fields of active aging learning from Japan, South Korea, Thailand and New Zealand. The conference, focusing on “Active aging, design of a one-hundred-year life” discussed social programs of an aging society, aiming to decrease cares and to achieve aging health, with ideas of education and forward learning.
The average life expectancy in Taiwan has increased to 80 years old. Facing the challenge of the super-aged society in 2025, many people feel uncertain about their futures. Therefore, the event encouraged the elderly and the middle-aged to continuously accumulate their resources, to keep learning, to remain actively and to learn to think about their life plans when facing opportunities and challenges of their one-hundred-year lives. They can therefore create new roles in the late stage of their lives.
This conference consisted of keynote speeches, talks, paper presentations and comprehensive seminars. It has four features: 1) focused on active aging and design of a one-hundred-year life; 2) invited experts and scholars from Japan, South Korea, Thailand and New Zealand; 3) invited the Ministry of Education, the Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor to share their ideas and to have discussions; 4) collected related papers and had oral and poster presentations.
