Taiwan is grappling with the challenges of an aging society, where lifelong learning and sustainable development are key to enhancing the value and social participation of the elderly population. The Department of Adult and Continuing Education at National Chung Cheng University will host the "2023 International Conference on Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Development: Cross-Domain x Innovation x Technology" on May 25-26, 2023, in the International Conference Hall of the College of Education Building. The conference will explore the importance of lifelong learning, cross-disciplinary cooperation, and innovative education for sustainable development, featuring six keynote speeches, two comprehensive forums, four oral presentations, and ten poster presentations.

Distinguished Professor Hu Meng-Jing highlighted that lifelong education is inseparable from life growth, influenced by factors such as extended human lifespan, population expansion, technological advancement, increased educational demand, educational crisis, social change, and more leisure time. As the executor of the Ministry of Education's Senior Education Think Tank Project, Professor Hu has long advocated for senior education and aims to integrate cross-disciplinary resources in this field.

The conference will invite scholars and experts from the UK, USA, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, and other countries to discuss lifelong learning topics, share research findings and practical experiences in lifelong learning and sustainable development. Additionally, strategy forums will discuss new perspectives on lifelong learning and sustainable development, with contributions from experts like Acting President Lin Bo-Wen of Taiwan's First Capital University, Professor Zhang De-Yong of the Department of Social Education at Taiwan Normal University, and Distinguished Professor Huang Shi-Hui of the Department of Creative Life Design at Yunlin University of Science and Technology, covering aspects such as lifelong learning policies, concepts and models, organizational development, innovative practices, and talent cultivation.

Honorary Director Professor Huang Fu-Shun emphasized the need for integrated resources across departments and disciplines to address the lack of lifelong education policies and resources. Through this conference, deep discussions and exchanges are expected to provide new insights and directions for lifelong learning and sustainable development in Taiwan and globally.
