[ACE Announcement] Call for PhD Student Participants: 2026 Belgium Academic Exchange and Study Tour

The Department of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) is organizing an academic exchange and study tour to Belgium this semester. We are now inviting doctoral students from our department to apply for this delegation.

I. Flight Schedule

  • Departure: June 21 (Night) from Taiwan (Arrival in Belgium: June 22 Morning).

  • Return: June 30 from Belgium (Arrival in Taiwan: July 1).

II. Host Institutions & Itinerary

Participants will visit the following organizations and institutions:

  • University of the Third Age (ULB)

  • Licalab NGO Eva

  • European Commission Meetings / EU Experience

  • Brussels School of Governance (BSoG)

  • Brussels Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Migration and Minorities (BIRMM)

  • Society and Ageing Research Lab

  • Compassionate University Movement

  • Ghent University (UGhent)

  • KU Leuven: TECOLAB/CHARM

III. Estimated Expenses

This is a self-funded trip. The department currently estimates the total cost for airfare and accommodation to be approximately NT$90,000.

  • Airfare: Approx. NT$40,000 (Preliminary travel agency quote).

  • Accommodation: Approx. NT$50,000.

  • Note: Local transportation and meals are NOT included.

IV. Selection Details

As the entire itinerary will be conducted in English, a selection process will be held in advance.

  • Quota: 7–10 PhD students.

  • Timeline:

    • Application Period: March 9 – March 31, 2026.

    • Review Period: April 1 – April 13, 2026.

    • Result Announcement: April 15, 2026.

V. Requirements & Eligibility

  1. English Proficiency: Candidates must possess strong English speaking skills.

  2. Video Submission: Provide a 3-minute video (in English) including a self-introduction and a description of your current research interests, concepts, or themes that reflect your research direction and focus.

  3. Academic Records: Submit official transcripts (including class rankings).

  4. Commitment: Participants must be able to fully cooperate with pre-trip planning, task assignments during the trip, and post-trip publication requirements.

VI. Application Procedure

To complete your application, please perform both of the following:

  1. Email Transcripts: Send a scanned copy of your official transcripts (with ranking) to admwzc@ccu.edu.tw.
