[International Lecture] Coming to Terms with Fate/Life: Ming as a Moral-Psychological Resource in Later Life

✨ Featured International Lecture: From Ghent University, Belgium, to National Chung Cheng University ✨

When we face illness, loneliness, loss, and death, how do we make sense of our own lives and find the direction to keep moving forward?

We are honored to welcome Prof. Mieke Matthyssen from the Department of Languages and Cultures, Ghent University, Belgium, who will deliver a lecture bringing together Chinese philosophy of life, psychology, and ageing research.

Prof. Matthyssen has long studied Chinese philosophy of life, indigenous psychology, and ageing. Combining philosophical inquiry, life-narrative interviews, and research on well-being and embodied experience, she invites us to reconsider two questions: How do people understand ming (命, fate/life) in later life? And how can ming help them build life stories that are livable, intelligible, and settled?
